MS. HUJU'S STORY

I am a Languages Arts teacher currently teaching in the city of Delano, MN. I attended college at Bemidji State University and student taught at Walker-Hackensack-Akeley high school in Fall 2019.

This website houses some of the best resources I was able to find to help with inclusion, engagement, and literacy! It also includes plenty of information about me. You can find my resume, passions, and a few of my writing examples as well!

GOAL: To give students and parents a way to connect with their teacher and provide easily accessible resources for the school year. This allows me to create a healthy and safe learning environment for learners.

Student United Way

Ms. Huju connected with the United Way of the Bemidji Area during her Junior year of college.

She often volunteered with them taking pictures for events, helping with set up or take-down, and tries to support their partner companies when she can.

Student United Way began in the spring of 2018 and has been partnering with the United Way of the community.

Events that they typically help with include:

             -Coats for the community

             -Holiday Gifts for Kids

             -Backpack Buddies

             -Women's United

Professional Reflection and Skills

After working with Residential Life and Upward Bound for more than 4 years, I have gained many skills for working with people. I am able to connect with others, help plan events, and even facilitate healthy communities for residents and staff in many settings.

In a workplace, I look for the ability to grow and give others a connection that they could be missing from home or work. In a school environment, it is important that there is a loving nature presented to the students and faculty. Empathy is the basis of everything that I find myself valuing and I want to spread that value to everyone that I come in contact with.

Students deserve to have people in their lives that foster a love of developing their sense of empathy and learning. I was lucky enough to have a few teachers like that during high school at Grand Rapids Senior High. I will be so happy if I am able to do the same for my own students.
